ABOUT ME
My connection to the sea started young.
I spent my childhood summers fishing with my parents on the coast. The boat was my home, the beach was an expansive backyard, and the docks were a boundless playground. The salt air filled my lungs and formed the foundation for who I was to become.
The connection persists as an adult. When I stray too far from the ocean, she pulls me back, as if an invisible, unbreakable thread binds us. Near the sea, I still find that youthful exuberance. She still brings me joy, inspiration, peace, and a sense of awe at all that nature offers.
I create images to share not just what I see, but what I feel when I’m at the coast. Each image is an invitation to experience the connection. Because exhilaration, serenity, and childlike wonder are things we can all use more of in our busy grown-up lives.
BIOGRAPHY
Wendy Beeghley is an artist and photographer living on the Washington coast in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Sometime during her 30-plus year career as a fisheries biologist, Wendy decided to seriously pursue her love of photography. She completed the Professional Photography course through the New York Institute of Photography, studied portraiture through courses with industry leaders including Jerry Ghionis, Sue Bryce, and Lindsay Adler, and is currently studying nightscape photography under the talented Kristine Richer at the Night Photography Academy.
Wendy started her portrait photography business in 2012, specializing in weddings and high school senior photography. She continued personal projects in landscape photography during that time, and when the 2020 pandemic hit, Wendy switched her business entirely to landscape and fine art photography.
Wendy’s images are currently displayed at the Ebb Tide Art Gallery in Gig Harbor. They have earned awards from the Associated Arts of Ocean Shores, Defenders of Wildlife, and other organizations, and have been displayed in local exhibits, including the Washington State Convention Center’s “Only in Washington” exhibit, the prestigious Edmonds Art Festival’s juried galleries, and the Federal Way Arts Explosion, and have been used commercially by the Washington State Tourism department.
