Big Waves at La Push Beach

Recharge

Green water is commonly caused by high concentrations of phytoplankton, which absorb the blue and red portions of the light spectrum, leaving the green portion to be reflected.  But on this day, the science was unimportant to me.  I was too busy marveling at the intense color, the endless army of uniformly breaking waves, the thundering of each crash.

Sitting on a log, face to the sun, I absorbed the energy the sea so generously shared.  I felt my body strengthen and my worries dull.  I felt the clarity of water inundate my brain.  Waves of joy, empowerment, and inspiration coursed through me, crashing over my soul.

After a good long while, the ocean released her grasp and I rose.  Like a battery that had just been recharged, I was ready again to take on the world.
