Hide ‘n’ Seek
The sun was playing with me that evening, daring me to capture it. It was brilliant and glowing deep orange and falling fast, and I was late to the game. I tried to compose a photograph at the first seastack I came upon, but it was all wrong. I scurried toward an open swath of sand with a little creek running through; the direction was off. I stumbled over cobbles and through soft sand, running, nearly falling, searching for my perfect shot. Time was working against me.
Then I saw the little crook in this seastack, and knew the sun would soon be resting its head there. “I’ve got you now”, I squealed, quickly checking that no one was actually within earshot. And indeed, the sun sank gently into the armpit of the rock, rested there just long enough to give me a smile and a wink, then disappeared behind the horizon, taking with it its warmth and its radiance. Well played, Sun.
